Monday, May 31, 2010 . . . Part 1

Today was the day Mom and Dad had plenty of time to take us and show us some of the sites. Our first stop . . . Haun's Mill. The Marker.
This is an old plaque in the ground at Haun's Mill. You can barely read it.

There is nothing left of Haun's Mill just the stone and the marker. It is amazing. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does not own this land. It is owned by the Community of Christ. As I walked along the banks of that river and tried to remember some of the stories I had read about this tragic event, I could only think of my girls hiding on the banks of that river trying to get away from that mob. It was sobering and humbling at the same time. To think of what these saints had to endure. . .
